A two-and-a-half year campaign for sheriff ended Tuesday with Dave Roberson defeating Tom Caldwell by a large margin.
Roberson won 24 out of 25 precincts and took 63.97% of the total vote. No Democrats qualified for Floyd County’s top law enforcement post, so Roberson will be the sole name on the ballot in November and will replace Burkhalter at the end of the year.
