The two races that were effectively decided in the Floyd County GOP primary were decisive.
Because there are no Democrats running for Floyd County sheriff or clerk of court, the winners of the Republican primary will appear alone on the general election ballot this fall.
Floyd County Sheriff Dave Roberson swept his competitor Robbie Whitfield, 5,256 votes to 1,354, winning 79.5% of the vote and all 19 precincts to gain a second term in office.
“It’s difficult to put into words how grateful I am for everyone who played a part in our decisive win,” Roberson said. “I’m truly honored to have the opportunity to continue to serve the great people of Floyd County.”
